Travel is a wonderful way for singles, and couples, to connect with each other at deeper, more transparent levels. By being exposed to new places, people and experiences, travelers are forced to get out of their comfort zones and become more vulnerable. Naxos is a Greek island in the South Aegean, the largest of the Cyclades island group. Its fertile landscape spans mountain villages, ancient ruins and long stretches of beach. The namesake capital (also called Hora or Chora) is a port town filled with whitewashed, cube-shaped houses and medieval Venetian mansions. Kastro, a hilltop castle dating to the 13th century, houses an archaeological museum.
Athens is the capital of Greece. It was also at the heart of Ancient Greece, a powerful civilization and empire. The city is still dominated by 5th-century BC landmarks, including the Acropolis, a hilltop citadel topped with ancient buildings like the colonnaded Parthenon temple. The Acropolis Museum, along with the National Archaeological Museum, preserves sculptures, vases, jewelry and more from Ancient Greece.

Apollon Round Tours
- 39 € per person (incl. R/T transfers and guide)
This one-day excursion spreads along the main road which crosses the island’s inland, reaches the old emery villages, surrounds the northern part of the island and returns at Naxos town from the west side.
Firstly, in central Naxos (Damalas) we visit a typical Cycladic pottery workshop. Then we visit the old commercial centre and formar capital of the island – Chalki. The oldest Citron distillery (1896), Protothroni Church (11th century) and Markopolitis tower at Akadimi village are visited there. After 8km we reach Apiranthos, aka “the marble village” where we can have lunch at one of the traditional tavernas. Our route continues southwards and once we reach Sangri we admire the view and find ourselves in the surroundings of the well restored Demeter’s temple (6thcent.B.C.). This temple is considered to be a representative example of the area’s ancient architecture. The on-the-spot museum where all the findings of the temple are exhibited is worth a visit. Moving upwards, crossing the mountainous part of Naxos, we cross the villages Koronos, Mesi and Skado where we see the remnants of the old emery mines and their machinery. We then reach the picturesque village of Apollonas. At the slope of the village, lies a huge Kouros statue (10.50 m), said to be a personification of god Dionysus. It is a great chance to swim in the transparent azure waters of the most northern beach on Naxos. The return offers a breathtaking sea view and some monuments of the post-Byzantine and medieval period Naxos. Engares village, known by the autobiographic work of the author Nikos Kazantzakis, with a famous two-arched stone bridge spanning an interesting wetland, is the last point of this full-day excursion.
- Naxos Essence
- 39 € per person (incl. R/T transfers and guide).
Listening to the detailed information from our experienced escort, we reach the cultivated valley of Melanes. There lies a semi-finished Kouros statue (6thcent.B.C.) which would be an ideal model for Henry Moore. On our way to Melanes village, we come across a part of the ancient aquaduct of Naxos (6thcent.B.C.) which used to supply Naxos town with water. Moving eastwards, we enter the Central Naxos valley. At Chalki, the old commercial centre and former capital of Naxos, we visit the Panaghia Protothroni church, an excellent example of Byzantine architecture. This unique church – with frescoes dating back at the Paleologos era – has been the parish church of the area for more than 11 centuries. Leaving Chalki, we move towards the beautiful beach of Mikri Vigla, where according to the myth, Ariadne experienced a pleasant meeting with god Dionysus.
